North Head Course Description

Prepared and measured by Stephen Jackson

New start area map and details

Overview

New Course March 2012 The new course starts and finishes at the Gatehouse building which is part of the old military facilities. To get there from Darley Road go past Manly Hospital, and proceed straight rather than right through the stone arch. Follow Bluefish Drive to new parking area. If this is full overflow parking is suggested on Darley Rd or further within the National Park.

The new start is at the Gatehouse mentioned above. The course then proceeds along a slip road to North Head Scenic Drive and the first turn point using the stone arch traffic island near the hospital. The course then follows North Head Scenic Drive all the way out to the loop, going clockwise then returning to the arch and then repeating. After turning around the arch for the third time, return back to the start area finishing on the slip road.

Numerous speed humps dot the course (44 during the course of the 10k to be precise) , but a good bitumen surface makes it a good course for a PB - and if a PB is out of the question, then the views at the start/finish area at North Head are spectacular. All kilometres are marked, and the distance is certified.
