Awards for 2004


Sydney Striders Annual Awards

Striders has two Awards Events for each year. The first is the traditional Brunch in December of each year where awards for that year that have been decided are made. The second is held in the second quarter of the following year for those awards that require consideration of performances across the entire year.

The club's annual Awards brunch at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in December 2004 with 150 Striders in attendance for the first of the 2004 Awards Presentations. The organisers of the Canberra Marathon, Dave Cundy and Fran Seton were in attendance, as was Julian Roux and Damian Tancred representing the Running Centre, sponsors of the 10k Series.

The balance of the Annual Awards for 2004 were made at the mid year Pasta and Awards night in May 2005, just before the SMH Half at the STaR City Casino. 185 Striders and friends attended with Pat Carroll and Dan Green as guests. They are be listed here.

Why the delay? The following awards are based on performances during the calendar year. Many Striders fail to mention their performances until they renew in late January. By the time renewals are processed, and the number collated it is March, and then a suitable night must be found that doesn't clash with holidays, Easter and various races. Hence, May - which also coincides with the availablity of running related speakers in Sydney for the Half.


Congratulations to all those who received awards for their achievements during 2004.
