The Concept
The Club has always recognized individuals for their achievements in specific areas.
However, there is always the argument over which is better - number of events contested,
number of high placing, difficulty of individual events etc.
While those arguments can never really be resolved, Kevin O'Kane, a long term club member,
proposed the "Super Series" to look at achievements in diverse events throughout the year.
The Super Series concept aims to recognize and reward the consistent performers for their
efforts, versatility, and general support of the club.
The Super Series has been slightly revamped for 2007 with key changes being:
- More choice - Members now can choose from 12 races through the year with
the best 8 results to count.
- New races - The Gold Coast Half Marathon, Shoalhaven King of the
Mountain and Cities Marathon
- Focus on longer runs - The shortest distance is now 14km (Equaliser and
City to Surf). For those that like the shorter faster races, the 10km Series
is just right for you!
- Points - A revamp on the distance bonuses but no longer any points for
racing 10km series.
The Events... there are 12 events in this years Super Series. Four results are dropped
for final points scoring, so planning of running calendars is important.
Note : Provisional until all race details and dates are confirmed from
respective organisers.
The Distance Bonus... will reward the effort associated with running the longer
events - the longer the event the bigger the Distance Bonus. This emphasises that the
Striders is a distance running club, and anyway, there is always the 10k Series for the
speedsters! Think carefully as to what events get dropped in your calendar.
Age Groupings...are Open, Pre Vets, Vets, Masters, Seniors, Super Seniors, and Legends
(both male and female). The Open winners can also win their Age Groups. The Age and Gender
competition is a single category with the handicapping system making allowances for age and sex.
Points...are gained for running Super Series events,
assisting at Striders events, hosting STaRs (both full STaR and 7am STaR), wearing the Striders uniform,
and the bonus based on the distance of the various Super Series events.
Placing Points...across open categories the points will be 1st 100 points,
2nd 96 points, 3rd 93 points, 4th 91 points, 5th 90 points,
and then down by 1 to a minimum of 2 points.
For Age Groups points will be 1st 50 points, 2nd 46 points, 3rd
43 points, 4th 41 points, 5th 40 points and then down by 1 to a
minimum of 2 points.
Important... all entries to events must be in your name and must comply with the organisers conditions.
Equally important... Any decisions relating to points, rules, conditions, or anything else
are at the total discretion of the Super Series Director. All arguments listened to, but usually ignored.

- Results will be collated after the event. Best efforts to get all Striders

to the Super Series Co-ordinator (email below).
- In the event of a tie at the end of the series, a countback based on number of
scoring events, then dropping 1 score, then dropping no scores, then highest placed finishes
to separate the runners.
