The 7th annual Equaliser wasn't any easier than the first six, just a bit warmer. Keith White, now the race organiser, started the field off in fine weather, and the course had dried off a lot in the week leading up to the event.

With the help of a couple of course markers which had gone missing, the route presented the usual problems to the navigationally challenged. Even the eventual winner, Andrew Hallam, ran off the course on one occasion. Andrew has long threatened to challenge the club's best, and put in a great performance which was more than enough to win the day.

The women's event was strongly contested, with Joanne Cowan only 35 seconds in front of Dawn Tiller. The post-race baby show was a tie. The 3 seconds between 3rd and 4th stoped Joe and Clara Vucetic winning veterans' prizes for the second straight year.

Apart from the winners, rarely seen veterans Charles Coville and Alex Whitworth performed well for 5th and 7th respectively. The race also saw the welcme return of Debbie Stokes and the obviously not retired Brian Tailford. Someone who looked a little like John Ayliffe also joined in.
