The Concept
Striders compete and excel in many fitness activities. Previously the Club
has recognized individuals for their achievements in specific areas. However,
there is always the argument over which is better - number of events contested,
number of high placing, difficulty of individual events etc. While those
arguments can never really be resolved, the Club has decided to look at
achievements in diverse events throughout the year. The "Super Series"
concept aims to recognize and reward the consistent performers for their
efforts and their versatility.
When?
The Super Series will commence January 2000 with the Palm Beach to Manly
, and will continue until the Striders 10k race in November 2000.

The Rules (All rules will be strictly enforced)
-
The will be no entry fee for the Super Series for Sydney Striders Members
-
Only Financial Members of the Sydney Striders are entitled to earn points.
Non financial members will get no points. It does not matter if you join
or re-join later. In the case of the January event, members mush become
financial by 31 January. If you do not, any points earned by you in the
January event will be cancelled, and will not be reinstated. No other adjustments
to points will be made.
-
Points in the Super Series are to be awarded on a similar basis as the
10k
series. There will be 42 points for the first Sydney Strider home, with
a reduction of 1 point for each place thereafter (shared points for ties).
All competitors will receive 2 points. Male and female points will be allocated
separately. All other Sydney Striders who turn up to help, support etc.
will also receive 2 points. Super Series articles accepted prior to the
last event for publication in the Blister will attract 10 points. All runners
at STaRs get 1 point for each STaR they register at and 5 ponit for Hosting a STaR.
-
All awards will be based solely on the total number of points obtained
during the Super Series. Official results are conclusive as to positions
and times.
-
There will be at least 1 person designated at each event to take results
(including supports). It is the COMPETITORS responsibility to give the
results to that person, or the Super Series co-ordinator by the following
Saturday at the latest. If results are not passed on this basis, there
will not be any corrections allowed later.
-
Club Uniform is compulsory for all events in the Super Series, unless there
are sponsorship clashes or some other acceptable reason. In this event,
you should let the Super Series co-ordinator know before the Super Series
start. It will be too late to apply for exemption on the day of the event.
Without an exemption, no uniform, no points.
-
Points to be posted on the notice board on the following Sunday run. Once
the points are posted they are final. No protests or correspondence will
be entered into, unless there are processing errors. Any person whose points
are omitted or posted wrongly, will have an adjustment made (+ or -).
The Awards
Awards will be made to the person with the highest accumulated points after
the final race of the Super Series.
